Summer isn't here just yet but that's good - you need to learn to swim first!

Winter can seem to drag on and on at times here in the Puget Sound area. One thing that you can do for your kids and yourself is to start swimming again regularly. Signing up for lessons (yes, both kids and adults) is one way to help avoid the winter blues and get a summertime feeling while learning a basic life-skill. The natatorium at the pool is always warm and the people always friendly - join us for a warm, refreshing, summer-like experience that results in safer kids and prepares you for summer the right way!

Enjoy summer year-round!

Although summer is still a ways away, that doesn’t mean your summer activities can't start early! The swimming pool provides an excellent way to enjoy summer activities year round!

This winter, we have lots of activities for children to take part in! Whether you are participating in swim lessons, dropping in for a public swim, or renting the pool for a  birthday party, make sure to include swimming in your child’s after school agenda.

Not only will you be helping to keep the pools open, but you will be providing your child with a fun, healthy activity.

Sign-up now for Lessons!

Looking for a fun, convenient after school activity for your child?

Swimming lessons are offered year-round at AMG Swim School.

We understand how busy schedules can be with children at school, so we allow you to tailor your lesson schedule to fit your needs. Sessions are offered monthly throughout the winter and spring months, and you can choose to do lessons once, twice or three times per week based on your schedule. Currently, we are offering lessons Monday through Saturday and there are morning, afternoon and evening times available to choose from.

Even if your schedule only permits lessons once per week, year-round swimming will enable your child to retain the skills they learned last summer and continue to progress throughout the year.

Swim Lesson Students (and FAMILY) Public Swim for Free!

Practice is essential to mastering any new skill and swimming is no exception. For this reason, we have adopted a new policy regarding the free practice swims given to all students enrolled in AMG Swim School.

Students signing up for at least two swim lessons per week now receive unlimited free public swimming during the month of their enrollment. Just present your valid practice card to a cashier during public swim. (Students enrolling in swim lessons one day per week receive two free public swims).

We hope students will take this opportunity to practice the skills they are learning during class and enjoy having fun in the water.

For practice tips, check out the AMG Swim School website at www.amgswimschool.com or speak with your swim instructor.

NEW! NEW! NEW! - Sign up now for 40 lessons at the regular price and receive a FREE FAMILY pass! Call the pool at (253) 854 WATR for more information.

Managers at Kent and Mt. Rainier

Change is part of our lives, it isn't any different with pool management. For the last year, Keith Ure has been an outstanding manager for the Kent Meridian and Mt. Rainier pools. Keith was offered an opportunity for personal and career growth and he has decided to leave AMG and go to work at a large local aerospace firm. AMG offers congratulations to Keith, he will do well in whatever he pursues. A senior AMG manager: "We'll miss Keith but recognize that some opportunities are too good to pass up - we are thankful we had him as long as we did and we owe him a great debt for his services". Over the course of the last year Keith's accomplishments include setting up the management and managing the change from King County to AMG for the Mt. Rainier pool, reorganizing and suffering through all of the KM pool mechanical and operational issues, formulating an employee handbook for AMG (not a small task we assure you), establishing water exercise programs that lead the county in terms of patron loyalty, and formulating a management structure and organization at both pools.

With Keith leaving, we have two new arrivals: Ash Milad (who will manage KM) and Ken Spenser (who will manage MR). These two experienced pool managers bring a significant amount of experience in the sport of swimming and are also King Aquatic Club coaches. Here is a little more on each of our new managers:

Ash Milad comes to us from the Washington D.C. area where he has been coaching on the U.S.S. level since his early years in college. Ash was born and raised in Northern Virginia and graduated from Penn State. At Penn State he coached age groupers with the State College Area YMCA and help found the Nittany Lion Aquatic Club.

Upon graduation, Ash returned to Northern Virginia and worked as Director of Managment for NVPools, Inc. While working for NVPools Ash coached for the York Swim Club and most recently Machine Aquatics and George Mason University. He also has extensive experience with summer league teams and is very excited to be moving to the Pacific Northwest.

Another transplant from the land of pleasant living, Ken Spenser brings his 15 years of coaching experience to King. Formerly the head coach of the largest team in Maryland swimming, Ken is proud to be a part of the strongest staff on the West Coast. On his former club, Ken's swimmers routinely produced top 16 times, US Open and National cuts. Ken was an active member of Maryland swimming, acting as the coach's representative to the administrative board and consistently serving as a zone coach.

Ken earned his degree in psychology at Villanova University and is currently completing his masters degree in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland. In his other life, Ken worked seven years for the Howard county public school system, teaching 4th, 6th, and 7th grade. In the past year Ken has gotten married, taken a trip around the world covering five continents in six months, and made the move to Seattle. He is an ASCA level 4 coach.
